Soon to be the Latest

Get ready for the media to be barking about bodies found in houses all across the country…They will pull at your heart strings and convince you that this is the greatest travesty of Mankind…Folks die everyday, sorry…It is just when it aligns with another news story that the MSM (main stream medai) takes advantage of the story.

This is really just a rant so, you can move on if so inclined…We all have neighbors and in my case I wish I didn’t…Don’t get me wrong, we have lived in the same house for 22 years and have had some wonderful folks that lived around us…I am reminded of the joke “If you don’t know the trashiest house in your neighborhood, it’s probably yours”…We have a house next door with a storied history…Purchases, sales and rentals…It is currently owned by the same couple for about 2+ years now…Over a year ago (see photo) this appeared in their driveway…The one time that I saw the wife outside, she explained to me that her husband had plans to “fix it up”…I have absolutely no problem with that…Although I have not seen the RV touched since it landed in the driveway…Contacting the local code enforcement did no good so we are stuck with the view…Rant over.

Hard to post about things and not touch on the elephant in the room…I hope everyone is adjusting well to their new routines, or lack there of…I heard an interesting thought the other day about the ventilator hubbub…They are gearing up General Motors and Lord knows how many other industries to spit this equipment out as fast as possible…Based on past performance, the peak of production will be reached about the same time that the need tapers off…That will leave the US sitting on a mountain of ventilators…Following the logic of our leaders, this equipment will go into storage (paid for with our tax dollars) until needed next…That sounds stupid enough but, the last time we had an event of this magnitude was 1918…102 years ago…Will this equipment be considered viable in that time?…Hell, they probably won’t want them ten years from now…In the end we will have mountains of equipment with no use and the good feeling that we “did something”.

In closing, I want to touch on one of my rather large pet peeves…I am immersed in the gun world and follow legislation and news in general…The biggest cry I hear after every event that the MSM covers is “We have to do something about guns”…That statement in itself makes my blood boil…What it really means is, “we have no idea what would lessen or solve the problem but, ANY action taken will make us feel better about ourselves”…This usually leads to some politicians that cannot spell GUN, drafting legislation to look good to their constituents…The new law rarely works as intended and is usually a duplication of laws already on the books…Do these leaders consult with experts that actually work in the industry…No, sadly not…They usually push whatever the lobbyist de jour hands them…This solves two of there problems…It balances the campaign contributions they received from said lobbyist and their constituents can think (he, she they) were out in front of it and I will give then my vote next election cycle…My example is specific to something I know about but, you can apply the theory to nearly all proposed legislation…There are an estimated 20,000 gun laws on the book in the US already…Can you honestly say that adding more will solve problems?…In the event that someone in a position to address this is reading…I’ll give you a hint…Mental health.

Stimulus, Really?

Does anyone really understand what the C- students in Washington are doing?…I know I sure as hell don’t…I watched the proposal double in size over a two to three week period…This allows for the politicians to sneak in their pork to satisfy the campaign donors in the shadows…I have done a fairly thorough search of the web and cannot find the official document…I am reminded of the smell that the Obamacare bill gave off…“We [need] to pass the bill in order to find out what [is] in it.” (Pelosi)…Time will tell.

For those of you in the dark ages, times they have changed…Initially when we moved into this house, we had cable TV installed…This was fine for over a decade…Since it also provided the Internet access in the house, I frequently partook in the infamous technical support line…For those that may not know me, I worked in that capacity for a couple of decades…This causes me to have overly high standards…Our local cable company is notorious for hiring folks that are lucky to turn on their work computer…In a fit of rage after several years, I thumbed my nose at cable and made the leap to satellite (To be accurate, we had C-band satellite in Texas years before) Once installed, it was smooth sailing for a few years…I was aware of Netflix and the like but, only used them to augment what satellite provided…A few years ago with internet speeds increasing, I toyed with the idea of “cutting the cable”…Technically this means to stream video via your internet connection…There are those of you that know this whole process…You can move on…Those that need more info, let me know.

Your glorious US Postal System at work…I ordered an item, doesnt matter what it is, and this is the progress it has made after a little more than two days…And folks wonder why nobody mails anything anymore…Actually, no we dont…The Posatl system is the dinosaur of the letter/parcel moving world…Yet our vaunted government insists on propping it up over and over again…As I write this, they are projecting that I will have to wait another three days…I live in Nebraska, I could drive round trip faster.
